Initial Situation
Vision
Based on the identified needs, Alcadrain s.r.o. formulated a vision to create a comprehensive digital solution that would include:
- A modern web application allowing customers to easily browse the product portfolio and obtain detailed technical information.
- A design system with reusable components ready for independent deployment and future expansion.
- Implementation of a professional user interface based on a design created in Zeplin.
- Flexible architecture allowing for easy assembly and combination of components.
- A test server for application development and validation.
- Documentation and instructions for easy use and expansion of the system by the internal team.
With an expanding product range and growing customer base, Alcadrain needed a modern web application that would effectively showcase its entire portfolio of over 1,000 products.
The company lacked a unified component system that would allow for easy assembly and customisation of elements for different contexts and future expansion.
The implementation of complex design mockups created in Zeplin required precise calibration and close communication with the design team.
The correct display and categorisation of the technical parameters of sanitary equipment and building components required a specialised solution.
Alcadrain, s.r.o. is a Czech family business with a rich history, founded in 1998. Since its inception, the industrial company has developed dynamically and today has established itself as the largest manufacturer of sanitary technology and building components in Central and Eastern Europe.
The company's production capacity is impressive – Alcadrain manufactures more than 1,000 different products in an area exceeding 110,000 m². The range includes valves, siphons, installation modules, gutters, drains, toilet seats and many other building components. Alcadrain has made a name for itself on the market as an innovative manufacturer with an emphasis on quality, functionality and exceptional design.
The company owns and has developed the premium Alca brand, which is known for combining technical perfection with modern and attractive design. Alcadrain designs all its products itself, ensuring full control over quality, innovation and aesthetics. This approach has earned the company a reputation as a partner that both construction industry professionals and end users can rely on. 1. Web application
The web application was developed using React with a modular architecture. Components are organised into logical groups and are fully documented. The application offers the following key features:

2. Design system
We implemented a complete design system with reusable components ready for independent use:
- Standalone components (buttons, forms, cards, galleries)
- Consistent visual language and design tokens
- Documentation for each component
- Examples and use cases for individual elements
- Easy modification and customisation
The design token system ensures visual consistency across the application. All colours, sizes, typography and spacing are centralised and easy to change.
3. Interactive elements
The solution includes a 3D interactive globe displaying Alcadrain's distribution network and points of sale. This React component visually presents the company's global reach.
4. Security aspects
Security was one of the key aspects of the solution:
- HTTPS and encrypted communication
- User authentication with secure password storage
- Protection against CSRF and other attacks
- Regular security audits
- Data backup and recovery
5. Implementation process
The project was managed using agile methodology with regular sprints. Stand-up meetings with the internal Alcadrain team ensured effective communication and quick problem resolution.
JIRA was used for task management, and the code was versioned in GitLab. Continuous integration and continuous deployment processes ensured the secure deployment of new versions.
